Subject: Transition to Debian-based Operating Systems and CentOS End of Life (EOL)
Dear Valued Customer/Partner,
We are writing to inform you of a significant update regarding the lifecycle of Xorcom systems running on the CentOS operating system.
As the CentOS Project reached End of Life (EOL) in 2024, Xorcom will officially cease all support for CentOS-based systems on December 31, 2026.
Why is this happening?
CentOS developers announced end-of-life for the system in 2024, meaning that security patches, bug fixes, and critical updates will no longer be provided for the legacy platform. To ensure the continued security, stability, and performance of your communication infrastructure, Xorcom is aligning with these industry changes.
Recommendations & Interim Policy
Xorcom highly recommends that all users upgrade their systems to our Debian-based platform as soon as possible. Debian provides a more robust, long-term foundation for our latest features and security protocols.
Effective immediately, please note the following:
- New Features: Future feature updates and enhancements are not guaranteed for systems running on CentOS. Advanced features, such as AI Agents, are not compatible with CentOS-based systems and are provided exclusively on Debian-based platforms.
- Support Level: Technical support for CentOS-based systems will be provided on a “best effort” basis moving forward.
- Security Risk: Operating on an EOL system after the cutoff date poses significant security risks, as no new vulnerabilities will be patched by the OS developers.
- Software Updates: Xorcom will continue providing software updates for CentOS systems on a best-effort basis through December 31, 2026. After this date, all software maintenance and updates for CentOS-based systems will cease.
- Complimentary Migration: The transition to Debian is included at no additional cost for all systems covered under a valid Xorcom warranty or service agreement, provided the underlying hardware supports the new OS.
